NativeAppTemplate 2.0 โ€” Our Rails 8.1 API is now open source

New
We're excited to announce NativeAppTemplate 2.0 โ€” the biggest update since our first release.

๐ŸŽ‰ The Rails 8.1 API backend is now fully open source (MIT).

What's new in 2.0:

โ€ข iOS 26 & Liquid Glass Design โ€” first-class support for Apple's new design language
โ€ข Rails 8.1 โ€” Solid Queue, Solid Cache, Solid Cable
โ€ข Claude Code ready โ€” CLAUDE.md guidance files in every repo for AI-assisted development
โ€ข Hardened security โ€” Brakeman 7.1.2, mass-assignment protection, full audit
โ€ข 205 new tests โ€” comprehensive coverage across models, policies, serializers, and controllers

Why open-source the API?

In an AI-assisted development era, the moat isn't the code โ€” it's production-tested, continuously maintained code backed by a real app shipping to real users (MyTurnTag Creator on the App Store and Google Play). Open-sourcing the API means you can audit it, self-host it, and contribute back. The paid iOS and Android clients still deliver the multi-tenancy, invitations, and role-based access that teams need.

Thanks for being part of this journey. ๐Ÿ™
